HISTORICAL RECORD // OFFICIAL UNOFFICIAL

The Official Unofficial History

The Cult was already there. This is the part where we explain that.

Before Bacon

The Cult existed before Bacon ever heard of it.

How long before is difficult to establish.

The oldest surviving records are inconsistent, incomplete, and occasionally written in handwriting that has not yet been identified.

THE EARLIEST AGREED FACTS

The Sizzle was already being referenced.

The Pan was already ceremonial.

The Pig was already significant.

And someone was already waiting.

The first surviving gathering record describes twelve candles, one suspiciously enormous frying pan, and a Lalafell who was apparently responsible for bringing the bread.

Nobody remembers what happened after the third sermon.

The official explanation is “spiritual exhaustion.”

The unofficial explanation has been sealed by Corporate Communications.

The Problem With the Dates

Several Cult documents contain references to Bacon Industries™ despite being dated before the company existed.

Archivists have proposed several explanations:

  • the documents were copied later;
  • the dates were entered incorrectly;
  • someone altered the records;
  • the archive itself is unreliable.

The final explanation is currently preferred because it is the least inconvenient.

HISTORICAL NOTE 7

The phrase “Bacon Industries” appears in three records currently dated before Bacon's birth.

Further investigation has been discontinued.

The Dream

Eleven years before she found the Cult, Bacon experienced the dream that began her search.

She remembered heat. The Pan. A Pig. The Sizzle.

She did not remember the words spoken to her.

The Arrival

The Cult had existed for generations when Bacon came looking for the presence from her dream.

When she finally found the faithful, they did not ask her to prove herself.

They recognized her.

No introduction was necessary.

No name was spoken.

The oldest witnesses behaved as though they had been waiting for her.

The Company

Bacon Industries followed.

The official history calls this entrepreneurship.

The Cult calls it obedience.

The surviving documents do not resolve the difference.
